Commonwealth Games 2022

The Commonwealth Games is a major multi sport competition which is held every 4 years. The games includes table tennis, for team and individual categories plus para. Last time it was held in 2018, this was at the Gold Coast in Australia. In 2022 it is being held in Birmingham, which is my home city.

I am very pleased to announce that I have been selected for the England Team. This was after a qualification process that included a final play off. I have been working towards this competition for several years and so I am very satisfied to deliver a good performance at the play off. The competition starts on 28th July to 8th August. Table Tennis is being held at the NEC venue. England have strong individual players and also can do well collectively as a team, so we are hoping that we can repeat past games and deliver some medal winning performances. Of course there are some very strong countries competing in Birmingham so it will be fantastic to have a chance to test myself against them in front of my home crowd.

Since summer 2020 I have been living and training in Germany, at the Topspin Sports Academy, in Bad Aibling. This is a fantastic location for international players to train, as there are great coaches and also many different players to practice with. I also played for TTC Langweid in Bundesliga 2 for the last two seasons.

After the Commonwealth Games, I will then be moving to the University of Cambridge, Sidney Sussex College, where I will be studying History & Politics. I will then train and compete for the University plus hope to play in other competitions.
